You’ve probably been directed to this page because you’ve requested that I speak at your event or visit your institution/organization to work with your team. I really don’t enjoy conversations about compensation, so I’ve put as much as I can onto this page to save us both the awkwardness of going through it all.
I charge for my academic labor. There are a few reasons I do this, but the main one is that academic labor is real labor, and when we don’t make it visible at every turn, it’s harder for those who are struggling to make a living off of their academic labor to make a case for being compensated fairly.
That being said, what I charge is not always what you can afford to pay. If you can’t pay my fees, I will adjust them so you can afford them. I am willing to work for free if I can afford to do it and you can’t afford to pay anything.
Here are my current fees:
- Online webinar/presentation: $500
- In-person presentation or keynote: $4,000 plus travel expenses
- In-person presentation or keynote within 2.5 hrs drive of Plymouth, NH: $1,500 plus mileage
Workshops can be added to presentations for a small additional fee.
If your institution regularly pays more for these kinds of presentations, please consider paying me more, and I can use the extra money to offset travel to places that cannot afford the fees. If your institution can’t afford these fees (particularly if you are a community college), please don’t hesitate to let me know and we will work together to find a way to make it work.
