I am currently the Executive Director of the Open Education Network, a global organization based out of the University of Minnesota that facilitates community care and collective action in open education to empower faculty, remove barriers to learning and knowledge-sharing, and enhance student success. Over my thirty-year career in teaching, I have been a middle school theater teacher, a high school literature and writing teacher, and a college professor of both English and Interdisciplinary Studies.

I have served administratively in public higher education as the founder and director of a teaching and learning center and as a university library director, and I still take core inspiration from these experiences, which shape my understanding of how to scale in (rather than scale up) new ideas in education and envision commons-oriented futures for learning. In 2020, I was honored with the Higher Education Excellence Award from the New England Board of Higher Education, as recognition of my work on college affordability in the region. I live in New Hampshire with my family, which includes the two brilliant dogs in my header, Big Toe and Flying Dan.
